About Brian Hollingworth

Brian Hollingworth has had a lifetimes experience of observing wildlife and sketching animals. He has an intimate knowledge of the movement of animals and a wealth of images to use in his sculpture. He has studied comparative anatomy and movement, so really understands what goes on under the skin of an animal. There may also subtle exaggeration in the wildlife sculpture, enabling him to capture the right feel and spirit of each animal he portrays in his bronze or ceramic sculpture.

Exhibition History of Brian Hollingworth

His work has been exhibited throughout Britain in galleries but he now concentrates on showing his work through his own web site. Seeing the possibilities of reaching a wider public the site was launched in 1999. At this stage the internet was quite slow - sometimes called the `World Wide Wait` However gradually the web site prospered and his work soon became known to a wider audience and his unique qualities recognised.

Brian Hollingworth has been a professional ceramic sculptor for nearly 38 years. He makes distinctive bronze and bronze resin sculpture of a wide range of wildlife and animals.

Artist Statement of Brian Hollingworth

This development into exploring bronze animal sculpture gave him the freedom to work using armatures to support the clay sculpture. He is now working on the creation of garden animal sculpture in bronze and bronze resin. Brian Hollingworth describes this as a re-energizing experience. His sculpture never stands still there is more to discover - more to create !

Awards and Prizes of Brian Hollingworth

Brian Hollingworth`s talent was recognised early and in 1978 he won the Holbrooke Award from Nottingham Museum and Art gallery. This was followed by receiving the Best Craftsman in Show at the Royal Bath and West Show. During the show he was introduced to her majesty Queen Elizabeth and showed her his work.

Acquisitions / Collections of work by Brian Hollingworth

Brian also accepts commissions from clients to create bespoke sculpture. His work is cast in bronze and bronze resin and is limited in each edition. He only makes small editions of each sculpture; never more than 12 in an edition.

A number of commissions followed and his work began to be exhibited in galleries throughout the UK. Brian was able to concentrate solely upon his creative work moving to his present studio in1996

Reviews of work by Brian Hollingworth

His work was shown on the BBC during a lunchtime programme called Pebble Mile at One. It was this that launched his work to a wider audience.

The wide variety of commissions received through the web has developed his work, kept him always interested and challenged. He was commissioned by clients to make larger animal sculpture and bronze sculpture

Qualifications / Education of Brian Hollingworth

He was formally educated in ceramics at the Art College in Sheffield and continued in the sculpture department of Nottingham Art College.
